Our Work

Broadly, we support charities working in the areas of education, social equality & justice, women empowerment, nature conservation and health and wellbeing. Our main focus is on institutions that support projects locally in the Pacific Northwest or in India. This is in line with our mission to give back and make an impact in the communities that we grew up in, or currently call home.

We plan to rotate the charities on a monthly basis and welcome recommendations for your favorite causes.

To find out more information on the current causes we are fundraising, as well as to see the ones we have supported in the past, please take a look below.

Health In Harmony (HIH) is an international nonprofit dedicated to reversing global heating, understanding that rainforests are essential for the survival of humanity. They collaborate with the experts – rainforest communities – to create the change the planet needs. They focus on regenerating rainforests through community-designed reforestation and protection programs. They work alongside 135,000 indigenous, traditional, and rainforest people, protecting over 8.8 million hectares of high-conservation value rainforest in Indonesia, Madagascar, and Brazil.

Though India is now considered a rapidly developing nation, the country remains far from reaching a state of complete literacy. Even today, about forty percent of India cannot read or write, and it is increasingly difficult for impoverished children in rural areas in India to receive schooling, because of cost and their duties at home.

To address these concerns, the organization Rural Education And Literacy (REAL): Youth To Youth was formed in 2001, and has since then been devoted to providing aid to rural communities and schools around India.

Their mission is “To support the education and literacy of underprivileged youth in rural India and to support STEM education efforts in Oregon.”

Anandwan.png

Anandwan literally, Forest of happiness, is an ashram and a community rehabilitation centre which was mainly started for leprosy patients and the disabled from downtrodden sections of society. It was founded in 1949 by noted social activist Baba Amte in the state of Maharashtra, India. Anandwan was envisioned as an environmentally aware community to practice energy utilization, waste recycling and minimizing use of natural resources that might otherwise lead to their depletion.

Pratham was founded on the belief that every child has the right to a quality education. In 1994, with support from UNICEF and the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, Dr. Madhav Chavan and Farida Lambay set out to end the vicious cycle of poverty by transforming the educational landscape in the slums of Mumbai. They began by creating self-sustaining Balwadis (preschools) and providing remedial education “bridge” classes for primary school students who lagged behind.
